There's a ton of shares being unloaded, as of now 16.5 million shares have traded. I don't get why people are selling in such large quantities either.

i put money that it A: some one trying to sell large and rebuy (which doesnt work any more since u revamped the trading system) B: tompage hasnt chnged that much intra day he could have unloaded his shares to screw everyone else. C: alta is epected to get 300" tonight (hahaha)
can u see buy vs sells on your end Skimonkey? and who is making the trades.

Well, we did get about 10 inches of snow last night here in Park City.

I have logs of every share traded so I know what happened in pretty clear detail.
Things will be fixed shortly.

My totals didn't change for the past 3 days only because of a glitch that wouldn't allow the amounts on the leader to go past $10 Billion. I was stuck at $9,999,999,999.99. It was finally fixed today. (See my post the other day in the Bugs section).
But, I didn't get any credit for growth in Alta & other stocks during those days because my totals couldn't go any higher. So, actually my total ought to be a couple billion higher.
I didn't start the big SELLOFF either.
But I did unload some shares after Alta was down about 13% today and I had already lost ~$2 Billion. When I sold large that led to a cascade of others getting out and probably waiting for the obvious price manipulation to bottom out.
My guess is the sudden big drop was due to your Theory A above - someone trying to engage in self-dealing, then discovering that that is now a losing strategy and then dumping their Alta stock and investing elsewhere. -OR- Someone trying to screw everyone at the top of the board (where everyone was obviously heavily invested in Alta) and locking in their price gains now to re-invest elsewhere.
Obviously having the most money gives anyone at the top of the leader board HUGE market power. (But, on the other hand, it may also make you a target for people to try to drive down the shares you own.)
Since, Alta is a sure thing bet, the best strategy is obviously buy LOTS of Alta stock. And, if it's a sure thing, that is soon to pay out, then you certainly want to have as close to 100% of your money invested there as you can. Having the more money also means that you can have the highest percentage of stock out of everyone invested in the sure-thing stock and that way you get the biggest percent boost in each future price rise. Everyone follows this simple rule, more or less.
But, of course, THAT is a risky strategy too, because if the sure-thing stock that you are over-invested in goes down suddenly, due to price manipulation, then if you have a higher percentage of shares invested there than anyone else, then you will have the biggest % drop too.
By the way, I first began grabbing up large amount of ALta stock when it was just $12!
Skimonkey, if you want to solve the sudden Alta sell-off crisis then, I suggest re-opening the trading on Alta (through the resort's final day on Sunday). The prices will go back up! I GUARANTEE IT!

No one, who's smart, who has sold off Alta will not re-buy it to get the bonus when it closes.
By the way, I proposed a simple solution in an earlier post to end manipulation by self-dealing (i.e. buying and selling a stock multiple times simply to drive the price up or down).

yes they did they just didnt show on the big board and that only show day old totals if you actually click on the person you get their actual total. so even though you were showin9,999,999,999 i saw that you had over 12 bil at on point i just figured the big board could show that next digit but when i clicked on you i could see your true figure. so dont say you didnt change and you were stuck. when you logged in you had a good total.
